Special Post: Article on Restorative Yoga and Pain

If you take a class with me, you know how I stress the importance of using the body’s natural responses to work into the practice with more depth and relaxation. I was sent this wonderful article (below) which explains the process which develops chronic pain, and how yoga supports the body in learning new patterns to allow the pain to change and even eventually drop away. This is really the process and no matter how much you experience discomfort now, you can train your body to lessen the response.

 

Ahimsa – kindness and non-harming toward the body can take a little while to develop, but it is so worth it. This process can also help you to develop greater patience in caring for others.
