Pick a pose that is hard for you. Pick a pose that is reasonable for you to work on.
This week, I want to encourage you to find that one pose that is just out of reach. Not something completely impossible right now, but something that required some skill you just haven’t gotten yet. Maybe you can tell there is a trick to it. Maybe you can’t tell what you are doing wrong.
Let this pose be your teacher for the week.
Take your time. Live, breathe, eat this pose. Look it up on the internet, sure. Ask other people about it. Look in some books and see how a few different people describe getting into the pose.
Then, let all of that go.
You ultimately have to form your own relationship with this pose. Let it teach you. Not some other person. Spend some time every single day working with it. Even if you don’t have time for a full practice, work with this one. Warm up, do the pose, do the counter pose (e-mail me if you don’t know the counterpose for your chosen work) and take a moment to rest.
Have courage.
Courage doesn’t mean you are free of fear. It means you place some faith in yourself, your practice, your spiritual practice. You have faith. Ask for help if you need it. Stick to it. If you fall, pick yourself back up. Be kind to yourself mind, body and spirit… and keep working.
You can do it.
