The Fascia

This is a system within the body which should be recognized as its own system or organ, like the skin. It is an interconnected web of covering which encapsulates all of the muscles of the body, making us need to stretch, feel stiff, or even making some movements smoother or restrained, depending on the health of this system. If you don’t know fascia, stick with the yogis and massage therapists I know and enjoy a whole new way of experiencing the world. Really.

Fascia are the interfaces between the muscles. We grow a fuzz between these covers when we sit still or sleep. You can see an example of the fuzz in the video I am sharing today. If you are a little squeamish – maybe you will want to look elsewhere to learn about the fascia, but I have never seen as clear a discussion as in this video. so – I post it for your study and awe at how the body works. You may want to actually follow the link to Youtube so you can read the author’s notes on the video.

What benefits do you think you will be able to find as a result of understanding more about the fascia?

Yoga Pose of the Day: Trikonasana – Triangle Pose

Yogic Concept of the Day: Let me move more each time I have a chance, so that I may melt the fuzz!
